It’s been so very long since I’ve updated this page. Well, aside from having just completed a newly reformatted Statements… and waiting to get another round of proofs printed from the printer, I’ve been thinking about making some tote bags.
Yes, I know everyone makes them. And we each have probably about a billion stuffed away in a closet somewhere. Nonetheless, I purchased thirty 16″x15″ cotton bags a while ago just on a whim.
The past few nights I’ve been playing around with some design ideas. It just randomly ended up that they are all black and red. (Honestly, I did play with a number of other color schemes and ended up with these unintentionally. I think these colors just look amazing together, though.)
Here are some of the mockup so far. I also had to make this mockup template as the ones I found online didn’t really look like the bags I have. Perhaps I’ll print one of these designs for the Hellidays this year instead of my usual calendar project… We shall see.
The Secret Alley was recently hit with a large rent increase. In response, they have created a member support system, attempting to find people who were interested in helping the Alley continue and support its activities.
As a gift to the folks who sign up to support them, the Alley built a free play arcade, The Observation Deck. I was commissioned to design and make two signs for the arcade, one of the arcade’s name and another for the factitious concession stand.
Information about the membership and The OD, read this.
Colored paper zine!! Zadness is about to hit the street. All printed, just needing to fold and staple. These will be available in person or online soon. First edition will be 50 copies. The blurriness is just to tease everyone.

My QWERT soft enamel pin is now available online at http://hausofqwert..bigcartel.com. Come on by and pick one up!
I got the pins from Made by Cooper last week. I designed these to be the pin card to keep things flashy.
The last month of 2015, a UK company named Made By Cooper, had an Instagram contest. They would be randomly pick folks who reposted the contest image and tagged them in the comments to win a run of custom pins. They had one contest every week, the last one ending with three winners. And I was one of those three!
They will be producing 100, soft enamel pins of the above design. I’m totally looking forward to getting these into my hands and then into everyone else’s.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted much on here. Aside from the enamel pins I recently made, I have been working on a book. The short title is Statements… The much longer title can be seen in the 3rd photo. I began this process back in March 2015. I describe it as “an exploration into the intentional and unintentional digital archives one creates through the regular use of electronic communication.”
I even built a book binding jig (photos 6 and 7). The design was based on some photos and a video I watched. I made it somewhat modular, so I could make books that are 8.5" by 5.5″ or 11″ by 8.5″.
The last three photos are the handmade editions of the book I made in order to double check the layout, margins, etc. The covers were made from scrap screen prints I had laying about.
I am currently looking into getting the book self-published as nicely and inexpensively as possible. I’d love to get it produced as a hard cover, but would be willing to have it made as a perfect bound book to make it accessible to more people. I’m planning on running a Kickstarter campaign to get the publishing funded.
